Sitter Sessions and Baby Birthday Photography Sessions
I provide sitter session and birthday photography in Warwick, Newport, Providence and Middletown areas.
Book a sitter session when your baby can sit unsupported. Search sitter session on Pinterest and you will find an array of styles for inspiration. A sitting baby can be sitting alone in some grass or in the studio with a backdrop. Babies can be placed in props such as washbasins, bowls, or mini bathtubs too. Parents have a lot of fun with these because the baby is usually all smiles at this stage of development. Connect with me to discuss your prop options. I collect newborn photography props and they are useful for sitter sessions too.
Birthday Photography Sessions
A birthday session celebrates the milestone of your baby turning one. You both made it! There are a few options with first birthday photography sessions:
A cake smash is a themed set with a decorative cake as the centerpiece. The session starts off with clean portraits of the baby. Once the portrait portion is complete, we shake things up by giving the baby a cake to explore. It’s a cute mess! After the cake mess, you have the option to photograph your child sitting in a washbasin or tiny bathtub. A cake smash is a fun way to capture early personality traits. Some babies are totally into exploring the cake, and some are completely turned off and overstimulated.
Decor for the cake smash
I have collected a few birthday props yet welcome parents to purchase whatever decorations they want. I have balloons, letters to spell “one” (in white, glitter gold, and wood), pom poms, banners, cake holders (white and wood), twinkle lights, backdrops that are floral or simple (white, gray, blue, bone), and small items that can be sit on or near. Please bring items that are interesting to your child! The bigger the better when it comes to decorations for camera. I am more than happy to set things up for you ahead of time. Simply drop the items off a few days beforehand. Please advise if you want a balloon arch or something that requires a lot of detailed work. Hot tip: Recycle the decorations by using them again at the actual birthday party. Parents are responsible for providing the cake. This policy prevents issues with allergic reactions.
Simple set up
It is perfectly acceptable to keep your baby birthday photography session clean and simple. Don’t get bogged down by the latest trends and really think about the stage your baby is in. What are your baby’s favorite books and toys? A special chair, wooden toys, stuffed animals, and board books photograph well and really compliment this important milestone. Your images will stand the test of time by choosing to decorate this way. Hot tip: bring a new toy to the session. It will hold your baby’s interest a tad longer than something that they have been playing with already.
